Rare rāga-s handled by H Yoganarasimham -A lesser-known composer of Mysore
Introduction Post the period of trinity of Carnatic music, many composers who were vāggēyakara-s emerged contributing to the glory of carnatic music. Kr̩ti emerged as a prominent musical form during this period. Other forms like Varn̩a, Padam and platforms. Many composers of the 19th century belong to the sishsya parampara of the trinity. The 20th century witnessed many musicians like Mysore Vausdevacharya, G N Balasubramaniam, M Balamurali Krishna and Lalgudi Jayaraman as great performers and also talented composers. Many new rāga-s were handled by the post trinity composers and the new ideas brought freshness in the concert platform. Erstwhile state of Mysore has produced many great vāggēyakara-s including the Maharajas of Mysore. One of the versatile composers of the 20th century from Mysore is Sri.H.Yoganarasimham. He was a sanskrit scholar, musician and a composer par excellence. He has composed a variety of musical forms. Although few of his compositions are quite popular, he remains a lesser-known composer. This study aims to observe four rare rāga-s handled by H Yoganarasimham from the published work Gitakusumanjali
